To get a reading on a
firm's overall price level, note how much above or below average the
firm's "price" index score is; the average price index score for all
firms is $100; so, for example, a price index score of $110
indicates our undercover shoppers found prices at the firm 10
percent above the all-firm average for the items we checked. You can
also look for firms that got our checkmark for price.
